Sustainability Hub

The Sustainability Hub, which is directly assigned to the Vice Rectorate, has existed since August 2024. This is the successor to the previous Sustainability Team.

As before, the Sustainability Hub supports activities on sustainability in research, teaching and operations, works on fundamental issues of sustainability research and teaching, coordinates the implementation of measures, advises university members and promotes networking among all university members and units committed to sustainable development.

The term "hub" emphasizes the coordinating and innovative function of this department. Sustainability cannot be achieved by one department alone. Rather, a sustainable university requires transformation processes in the thinking and actions of all UZH members. The Sustainability Hub coordinates, networks, develops and supports measures to strengthen sustainability at UZH. It also cooperates with local, national and international networks and partners for projects and initiatives. For example, the UZH Right Livelihood Center (RLZ) is connected to the Sustainability Hub. The management of the Commission for Sustainability is also anchored in the Sustainability Hub. There is close cooperation with the Zurich Knowledge Center for Sustainable Development (ZKSD).
