Jeannette Behringer holds a doctorate in economics and social sciences (Dr. rer. pol., Political Science, Economics, and Sociology, University of Stuttgart) with a focus on political science and a master's degree in applied ethics from UZH.
Her master's thesis focuses on theoretical approaches to gender equality policy and the importance and impact of municipal women's representatives. She completed her doctorate on the topic of the legitimacy of new forms of political participation at the local level in the context of sustainable development under Prof. Dr. Ortwin Renn at the University of Stuttgart as part of the interdisciplinary research project "Climate and Environment in Alpine Regions" (CLEAR) at ETH Zurich. She was also part of the project management team and was responsible for the "Integrated Assessment" process.
Jeannette Behringer's other areas of focus are democracy, civic engagement, civil society, and participation. She has worked in various institutions of sociopolitical and ethical education, providing foundational work and designing multidisciplinary formats and processes, including as a specialist consultant at the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Baden-Württemberg, as a study director at the Evang. Studienzentrum Boldern near Zurich, and as a staff member for Gesellschaft & Ethik der Evang.-ref. Landeskirche of the Canton of Zurich.
