Science in society
The Sustainability Policy of the University of Zurich emphasizes the importance of science for the social transformation towards sustainable development. Therefore, the project «Reflecting on and Discussing Roles of Scientists in Sustainability Transformations» (REDIRO) of the SCNAT Science and Policy Platform, in which the Sustainability Hub is involved, makes an important contribution.
REDIRO examines the various roles that scientists can take on in social processes. The guidelines developed in the project discuss these roles, emphasize the importance of role clarity and role transparency and offer models and procedures for reflecting on and classifying experiences and questions gained to date. The project makes an important contribution to productive cooperation between science, social actors and organizations.
