Climate Neutrality by 2030
UZH has roughly 28'500 students and 10'000 employees. The University has over 360'000 square meters of main usable area distributed throughout some 250 buildings. These numbers alone show the importance of carefully using energy and other resources for heating, commuting, business trips, cafeterias, lighting, computers, and other work and study-related activities.
UZH has set itself the target of becoming climate-neutral by 2030. From 2030, the target relates to the categories of energy, air travel, commuting, vehicle fleet, food, paper, water and waste. In addition it relates from 2035 onwards to construction activities and laboratory and research materials. At least half of the emission reduction shall be achieved through own measures in university operations.
Current information on UZH's measures towards climate neutrality can be found in the Sustainability Report.
